Shoreline’s Purpose:
“Partnering together to love God, love people and make disciples.”
This statement captures the biblical vision for the church; to be an outpost of God’s kingdom and love in the world. It challenges us to follow Jesus better and to help others on the journey.
-
This statement captures the biblical values of the “Great Commission” and the “Great Command.”
-
The “Great Commission” describes Matthew 28:18-20 where Jesus tells His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations.”
-
The “Great Command” comes from Jesus’ response to religious questioners who want to know the greatest command in the Law. His reply comes from Deuteronomy 6:5, which says, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your strength.” To which Jesus adds the second greatest commandment, “and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:37-40)
Shoreline’s vision statement:
Consists of five key characteristics that should describe Shoreline by 2025:
-
Introduce people to Jesus. Are we effective in meeting new people and starting conversations about Jesus?
-
Model generosity. Are we generous with our time, talent and resources? Is it obvious?
-
Encourage service. Do the constituents of Shoreline church willingly serve in the ministry?
-
Cultivate a future focus. How do we value our children’s and youth ministries as preparing young people for the future?
-
Maintain a culture of honor. Do we embody honor in our relationships as described in Ephesians 4-5?
